Joint Venture Welcomes New Partner, Changes Name

Dr. Marc Bendickson, Dynetics, and Dr. Julian Davidson, Davidson Technologies, announced that Millennium Engineering and Integration Company (MEI) has become a partner in a joint venture formed in 2001 to focus the talents of the parent companies and subcontractor teammates to deliver support to the Space and Missile Defense Command (SMDC) and the Missile Defense Agency (MDA), as well as other space and missile defense customers. The joint venture, previously named Dynetics, CAS & Davidson, is now named DMD, LLC. DMD was formed to continue to provide focused, technology-based, full-spectrum support through the Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance Contract (SETAC). On Monday, April 2, 2007, a reception was held to officially sign the new partnership’s Articles of Incorporation.

"We formed the DMD joint venture to bring together three system engineering and technical support contractors who have assisted the Government on several successful missile systems. Millennium Engineering and Integration brings many years of supporting this customer in the DC region, as well as a strong commitment to the work being done here in Huntsville. This joint venture realizes our vision of an alliance of small businesses focused on achieving enduring excellence for space and missile defense, in the 21st century," said Dr. Marc J. Bendickson, CEO of Dynetics.

According to Mr. Kerry Wisnosky, President and CEO of MEI, "Joining in partnership with well-respected, internationally recognized companies like Dynetics and Davidson Technologies enables MEI to continue to grow our presence in the Huntsville area, and better support our customers relocating to Huntsville and Madison County as a result of the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Commission’s recommendations." The integration of companies from the Washington, DC, area into the Huntsville contractor environment is one of the essential components of Huntsville / Madison County’s BRAC strategy.

The advances in technology needed to develop and field successful space and missile defense systems have been inspired and matured by Huntsville small businesses, including programs such as the Theater High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system, PATRIOT, and others. According to DMD President Mr. William Malkemes, "MEI adds great innovative technology that is vital to the success of our Government missile defense customers to the DMD team."

The SETAC recompetition is potentially a 10-year contract that could generate more than $1 billion in sales. The majority of SETAC sales to the DMD, LLC joint venture will generate tax revenues for Huntsville and Madison County, keep jobs in Huntsville and Madison County, fund the salaries and benefits of local high-tech employees, support university research, and contribute to the revenues of Huntsville and Madison County firms that provide goods and services. Profits generated as a result of SETAC sales to the DMD, LLC joint venture will also stay in Huntsville, further enhancing the economy of North Alabama.
